Pulse Oximeter
What does a pulse oximeter do?
- A pulse oximeter checks how much oxygen is being carried by your blood, as well as checks to see the rate at which your heart bears.
- It shines a light through your fingertip seeing how much is absorbed.
Who would benefit from using a pulse oximeter? A few examples include:
- Individuals with respiratory and/or heart conditions
- Athletes and fitness enthusiasts
- People recovering from illness
- High-altitude travelers
What measurements should I consider?
- If the numbers are high, usually above 95%, means your blood is carrying plenty of oxygen. If they are low, it might mean your body is not getting enough oxygen, which can happen during illness, high-altitude travel, or even intense exercise.
