How are wellness programs different from physical therapy sessions?

  • Goals
    • Physical therapy is focused on rehabbing people from injuries, surgeries, or physical conditions by restoring mobility, strength, function and reducing pain. There is a short-term focus on a specific medical diagnosis and treatment is medically necessary. 
    • Wellness programs provide a long-term focus on prevention and optimization of health and fitness improving your well-being and lifestyle.
  • Scope
    • Physical therapy sessions may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities
    • A few examples of what a wellness plan can include: 
      • General fitness
      • A stretching session
      • Improved flexibility
      • Postural improvement
      • Ankle stability
      • Exercises and activities for desk workers 
      • Balance improvement 
      • Exercises and/or cueing for return to
        • Pilates
        • Yoga 
        • Etc.
      • Exercises for 
        • Runners
        • Pickleball Players
